Our Bicentennial Legacy Project entitled ‘Preserving History’ was endorsed by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission. The project was coordinated by Ron Myer and Joe Gottschalk and filmed/edited by Taylor Warkentine and the Huntington University Film Department.

For the project, we interviewed 21 of our senior farmers/residents that have spent their lives in Whitley County. Most of the participants were over 80 years old and one was 101 years old.

The project will preserve the history of Whitley County citizens for future generations. The videos document the daily lives of farmers and business men in the community, in their own words, and will help future generations to understand Whitley County’s past.

The video is a celebration of the Whitley County pioneers in the areas of agriculture, electricity, plumbing, and local history. Their daily lives are a testament to their hard work and the spirit that makes this country what it is today.
